Tamil Nadu · Kanyakumari
Where three seas meet the land of the Goddess.
Cultural Story
Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India, is where the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean converge in a spectacular meeting of waters. This land is sacred, ancient, and deeply alive with tradition.
The town is named after the Goddess Kanyakumari — the eternal virgin — whose temple has stood here for over a thousand years. Pilgrims from across India come to witness the rare spectacle of sunrise and sunset over three different seas from the same point.
The local culture is a tapestry woven from Tamil heritage, maritime traditions, and spiritual practice. The fisher communities here have their own songs, rituals, and a relationship with the sea that stretches back countless generations.
